A Berkeley College education involves learning that takes place both in and out of the classroom. Through internships, guest speakers, field trips, and other industry-related events, experiential learning allows students to learn firsthand from leading professionals and engage in hands-on activities that provide important insights into current trends in the workplace. Professor Kennedy is the lead of the Fashion Merchandising and Management Department at Berkeley College. A fashion and sustainability designer, strategist, sourcing specialist, and educator, she was Vice President of Sustainability at Material Exchange, where she developed measurable and positive changes in digital material sourcing for fashion and footwear brands, suppliers, and textile agents.
Professor Kennedy has more than 25 years of experience in design, merchandising, product development, sourcing, sustainability, and environmental, social, and governance work, including 10 years leading sustainability at Fashiondex, where she consulted with high-profile fashion brands on implementing sustainable practices across all areas of design, production, and sourcing. She spent seven years at LIM College, where she was Associate Chair of Fashion Merchandising and developed and taught all the fashion sustainability courses. She is a Sustainable Apparel Coalition strategic council member, Climate Reality Leader mentor and speaker, and board member at Educators for Socially Responsible Apparel Practices (ESRAP).

Professor Hutchinson’s passion for education was ignited early on, influenced by her mom, who was also a schoolteacher. Driven by her innate love for technology and creativity, she discovered her natural calling within the college classroom. With over two decades of experience, she is a seasoned graphic designer, instructional designer, and college professor. Professor Hutchinson specializes in fusing traditional design concepts with new immersive technologies, including artificial intelligence/augmented reality/virtual reality. Her most recent accomplishments involve the creation of the Graphic Design Virtual Metaverse Gallery.
Professor Hutchinson’s professional journey includes working as an instructional designer for the School of Dentistry at Rutgers as well as the School of Professional Studies and School of Health Studies at Berkeley College. In her freelance venture, Joule Design Consulting, she creates stunning visuals, brand identities, motion graphics, and social media for various clients.

Barbara Crump, PhD

Dr. Crump has more than three decades of professional healthcare experience as a staff nurse, charge nurse, nurse practitioner, clinical coordinator, and case manager. She has worked in several leading hospitals and healthcare systems in multiple areas of care, including medical, surgical, orthopedic, hematology, and oncology units. She has been responsible for care coordination, facilitation, education, advocacy, discharge planning, resource management, outcomes management, disease management, and other aspects of nursing care.
Dr. Crump holds multiple certifications, including Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination–American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification, Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP®)–Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation, and ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certification. She is an active member of the Oncology Nursing SocietyTM and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners®.
In addition to her professional experience, Dr. Crump has served on several college nursing program faculties and has contributed to multiple educational presentations.
Jason Gulya, PhD

Jason Gulya is a Professor of English and Media Communications at Berkeley College. He teaches courses on reading and writing, the humanities, and artificial intelligence (AI). He has worked with colleges and universities all over the world as a consultant and keynote speaker. He focuses on the role of AI in higher education, what AI means for the future of writing and communications, and conceptualizing academic integrity for this new world. Dr. Gulya is the author of several books on Artificial Intelligence has been featured in Forbes, Business Insider, and several other major publications. He was named an “Innovator to Watch” by INNOVATE100.
Dr. Gulya was selected as Berkeley College Faculty of the Year in 2020 and served as the Faculty Speaker at the 2021 Commencement ceremony.

During the 2025-2026 award year, more than $30 million in direct Berkeley College institutional aid was awarded. This amount is in addition to any federal and state aid. A range of grants and scholarships are available to qualified students. You can learn more about the most up-to-date offerings, which include:
Achievement Award
Incoming full-time and part-time students enrolled in a degree program with a 2.50 grade point average (GPA) or higher will be considered for an award. Full-time students can receive up to $8,000 per standard academic year, based on GPA and date of application submission or readmitting effective date. Part-time students can receive up to 15% off tuition per standard academic year based on GPA and credit load. Students must maintain a cumulative Berkeley College GPA of 2.50 or higher at the time award renewal takes place, which generally occurs every two semesters. Admission application submitted or readmitting effective date on or before early deadline date for each term:
Honors Scholarship
2027 high school graduates who are accepted to the Honors Program may receive up to a half-tuition scholarship based on their high school GPA of 3.50 or higher and review of transcript by the Honors Committee. Students must meet all federal and state grant application deadlines each year and receive a valid Institutional Student Information Report (ISIR). (If a student fails to meet the state deadlines and is now not eligible where they would have ordinarily received the award, calculation of the honors award will be less that amount.)
Students must maintain full-time, continuous, consecutive term enrollment and maintain a cumulative Berkeley College GPA of 3.00 or higher at the end of each award year to retain their scholarship. Students who initially enroll in an Associate’s degree program and continue into a Bachelor’s degree program may continue to renew until completion of the Bachelor’s degree. Deadline to apply is June 1, 2027.
Presidential Scholarship
Each campus awards one student a full-tuition scholarship each academic year. All other eligible students may receive up to a 30% tuition scholarship. All awards are based on high school GPA. Students must maintain a full-time, continuous, consecutive term enrollment, a cumulative 3.50 GPA, and satisfactory academic progress. First-time students enrolled in a degree program must complete all admissions requirements by December 15, 2026, to be considered for this scholarship.
Alumni Legacy Scholarship
A scholarship up to 30% may be awarded to full-time students in a degree program who have had at least one parent, grandparent, or legal guardian graduate from Berkeley College. Students must maintain full-time, continuous, consecutive term enrollment, and maintain a cumulative Berkeley College GPA of 2.50 or higher at the end of each award year to retain their scholarship.

The amounts for this grant vary based on need and enrollment status. Students must maintain a cumulative Berkeley College GPA of 1.50 or higher at the end of each award year to retain their scholarship and maintain satisfactory academic progress.

Berkeley College Newark Promise Grant
With the Berkeley College Newark Promise Grant, qualified Essex County, NJ, residents may attend the Newark campus as full‐time students in certain Associate’s degree programs without incurring any loans for tuition and fees. They may also be able to complete a Bachelor’s degree online or at the Woodland Park campus without incurring any loans for tuition or fees.
Berkeley College New Jersey Opportunity Grant
With the Berkeley College New Jersey Opportunity Grant, qualified NJ residents may be able to enroll in a full-time Associate’s degree program without incurring any loans for tuition and fees.
